Fine jewelry lasts a lifetime when it is cared for properly.
Everyday care
- Put jewelry on last, after perfume, lotion and makeup.
- Remove it before swimming, sport, cleaning or sleeping.
- Wipe with a soft, lint-free cloth after wearing.
Cleaning
Solid gold and diamonds can be cleaned with lukewarm water and a drop of mild soap, then rinsed and dried. Never soak pieces set with soft or porous stones such as mother-of-pearl, turquoise or malachite; simply wipe them. See our gemstones guide.
Storage
- Store each piece separately in a pouch or a lined box.
- Close clasps on chains to avoid tangles.
- Keep original boxes and papers, which add value.
Professional check
Have prongs, clasps and settings checked periodically by a jeweler.
