How to Care for Your Luxury Watch

How to Care for Your Luxury Watch

A luxury watch can last for generations with the right care.

Servicing

Mechanical watches benefit from a full service every few years, following the brand's recommendations. Quartz watches need a battery change and occasional checks.

Water resistance

Check the rating before swimming, and make sure the crown is fully screwed down. Gaskets age over time, so have water resistance tested during servicing.

Daily habits

  • Avoid magnets, extreme temperatures and hard impacts.
  • Clean metal bracelets with a soft brush and water (if water resistant); keep leather straps dry.
  • Wind or wear automatic watches regularly, or use a watch winder.

Storage

Keep your watch in its box or a watch roll, away from other jewelry to avoid scratches.
